  • Undergraduate students must submit a deposit in order to receive an I-20.
  • Receive your I-20 from Marist
  • Schedule an appointment with the closest American Embassy or Consulate and apply for your F-1 Visa

Examples of the completed documents need to apply for the Marist I-20 can be found here:

To make your appointment with the American Embassy or Consulate you will need to find the most convenient location, please do so by visiting the U.S. Department of State website. They also offer ample information on the procedures for obtaining your student visa.

Tips from our current international students:

  1. Understand the requirements: Familiarize yourself with the specific documentation and forms required for the F1 visa application. Visit the official U.S. embassy or consulate website for accurate and up-to-date information.
  2. Prepare for the visa interview: Arrive on time and bring all necessary documents to the interview. Answer questions confidently during the visa interview. Be clear and concise in expressing your intentions, academic goals, and reasons for choosing Marist.
  3. Stay calm and relaxed: The visa interview is not a quiz, and the consulate staff is not there to make you fail. Maintain a calm and composed demeanor throughout the process. Focus on actively listening to understand the questions and respond honestly, concisely, and appropriately. Remember, the interview is an opportunity to showcase your qualifications and intentions!
  4. Be truthful and consistent: Provide accurate and consistent information on your application, interviews, and supporting documents.
  5. Be patient and positive: Understand that the visa application process can be time consuming and requires patience. Issues may arise after your interview, but maintaining a positive mindset will help you better handle any challenges that may arise.
